Progress in New State Area

A new wall has been built around the property on Jacob Street in New State Area and some of the rubble left behind has been cleared.

More rubble lies in piles on the property and within the house.

The Advertiser published a story on January 30 (“New State Area hell house”) regarding this property that had burnt down over two years ago.

At the time of writing the previous article, it was clear that nothing was being done with the house.

The Addie attempted to get a hold of Henlo Meyer, the owner of the property, but he was away at the time.

The Addie went to the property again on Tuesday to investigate and it could be seen that some progress had been made.

According to New State Area resident, Attie Beukes, plans are underway to rebuild the house.

“They are going to start rebuilding as soon as the rain stops.”

Meyer’s company will be restoring this house to its former glory.

The Addie got a hold of owner, Henlo Meyer to clarify and he said, “We received the approved plans for the new roof just prior to closing in December last year and the approved plans for a new residence on February 20 and we commenced with the cleaning and building on the said property.

We had to wait for all plans to be approved prior to commencement.”

Meyer also said that his company had numerous other projects as they renovate approximately 30 properties per year.

“As usual my company will ensure that the area is in a better state as what we found it,” he says.

Meyer wants readers to be aware that it’s merely a coincidence that they commenced with building at the same time the original article appeared.
