A man was shot dead last Thursday at Grootvlei mine.
Ramphora says a group of friends were sitting around a fire at 11am, at Shaft Four of the mine when another group of men approached them.
They ran away but later noticed one of their friends were not with them.
“The next morning they went back to the scene to look for their friend and found his body in the long grass,” says Ramphora.
The cause of the killing is not sure.
A carjacking took place on Friday in Union Street, Springs Extension at 9.10pm.
The driver of a silver Corsa bakkie stopped at the gate of a block of flats and phoned his neighbour to open the electric gate for him.
Springs spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the man had left his remote at home.
It was while he was waiting at the gate that he noticed a white bakkie stopping next to him.
“Two men, one armed with a firearm, ordered the victim to get out of his vehicle and to lie on the ground.
They then drove off in both vehicles.
No shots were fired.
A business robbery took place in Honeysuckle Road, Bakerton on Saturday at 7.30am.
While the owner of a shop was in the toilet and his assistant in the shop, three men entered.
According to Ramphora two of the men were armed and pushed the assistant to where the owner was.
One of the armed robbers pointed a firearm at the owner and tied his hands with cable ties.
“They tried to force the two victims to drink alcohol, but they refused,” says Ramphora.
The three robbers left with cigarettes, airtime and cash.
No shots were fired.
A bottlestore owner in Coetzee Street, Selection Park, was robbed by five men on Saturday at 8pm.
Ramphora says the shop owner locked the store and left the premises with his brother’s wife.
While driving they noticed a white bakkie overtaking them and stopping in front of them.
The shop owner stopped and tried to reverse his vehicle, but another red vehicle had stopped directly behind him.
Five men approached them and the one pointed a firearm at both victims ordering them to get out of the vehicle.
They robbed the victims of cash, their cell phones, bank cards and passports and drove off.
“It is unknown how many robbers were armed as the victims couldn’t speak English,” says Ramphora.
No shots were fired.
Another murder took place on Sunday at 4pm, in Crescent Street, Eastvale.
Two men were on their way home to Kingsway from work and while walking there were approached by two men.
One of the men was armed and they demanded money from the victims.
Ramphora says they argued and started fighting, but one victim ran away.
While running away he heard a shot and looking back at the scene, saw his friend falling to the ground.
He started running again and came across a police vehicle which he stopped.
“He explained what happened and took the police to the scene,” adds Ramphora.
Upon arriving they found a man with a bullet wound in his stomach and the police officer phoned the paramedics.
The paramedics declared the man dead on the scene.
No arrests have been made in any of the above cases.
