Casual day is on September 5
The theme for 2014 is "Bring out the Bling" and the colour of the year is Dazzle Blue, as it is a time to be creative with glitter, fabric, shiny paper or just wear your sticker and a posh casual attitude.
Put on your dancing shoes and dress up, but not down, for this year’s Casual Day on Friday, September 5.
Andrea Vinassa, media co-ordinator for Casual Day, says this year is special as it celebrates the past 20 years of buying a sticker for R10 and then dressing up or down to benefit charity.
Casual Day, a project to benefit people with disabilities, raised R24.8-million last year.
Vinassa says at this stage there are no beneficiary charity organisations from Springs on this year’s Casual Day list.
“It is a project for schools and organisations to raise money for themselves.”
She says Casual Day provides the organisations with marketing support, stickers, as well as T-shirts and caps to sell to raise funds.
They retain some of the money for overheads and a percentage goes to the 12 beneficiary organisations.
The proceeds of Casual Day ensure the sustainability of more than 500 organisations serving the needs of people with disabilities all over South Africa.
Some of the Casual Day National Beneficiaries include the National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities in South Africa, South African National Council for the Blind, South African Federation for Mental Health, Deaf Federation of South Africa, Autism South Africa, Down Syndrome South Africa, National Association for Persons with Cerebral Palsy, South African National Deaf Association, National Institute for the Deaf, Alzheimer’s South Africa, South African Disability Alliance and the QuadPara Association of South Africa.
Stickers are available from Edgars, Jet, JetMart, Boardmans, CNA, Red Square, Legit, Absa, Game, DionWired and at the tillpoints at Shoprite and Checkers stores.
Vinassa called on any charity organisation that wishes to become a beneficiary, to contact her as soon as possible on 011 609 7006.
