SAPS arrest flower man

A 43-year-old man was arrested by members of the Germiston Flying Squad for the possession of dagga on the corner of Colliery and Wit roads in Lodeyko on Tuesday.

The two Flying Squad members were conducting routine patrols in the Bakerton area at 3pm, when they received a call about a man allegedly dealing in dagga in Lodeyko.

The police stopped and searched the suspect and found a large packet of ‘Swazi’ dagga and cash in his possession.

Capt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the dagga reportedly from Swaziland, is allegedly stronger than the normal dagga found in the area and also more expensive.

The two sergeants, Bongani Makweni and Muzi Hlela, arrested the man and took him to the Springs police cells.

Ramphora says the man claims he has been selling flowers for a while but also started selling dagga about a year ago.

The street value of the dagga is approximately R1 000.
