Drugs camouflaged as sweets

Springs police has issued a warning to alert parents about a new drug in schools.

A new drug in the form of a sweet, is called ‘strawberry quick’ or ‘strawberry meth’.

Springs police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says parents should be made aware of this drug.

According to Ramphora the sweets looks like a type of crystal meth but look like strawberry pop rocks, which are similar to sweets that sizzle and pop in your mouth.”

“The drug smells like a strawberry and is being handed out to children in school yards,” he says.

He says children are ingesting this drug thinking it is candy.

“They are being rushed off to hospital in dire condition,” says Ramphora.

The drug also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange flavours.

“Parents should instruct their children not to accept sweets from strangers or accept anything from their friends which looks like this drug,” says Ramphora.
