AfriForum brings to new life to Rus ’n Bietjie
AfriForum's Richard Lubbe says a community-based organisation, they are always looking for projects they can do locally.
AfriForum Springs has renovated the dining room floor of the Rus ’n Bietjie Old Age Home.
This came after the home appealed for help with their renovations.
“We have a health inspector who comes every six weeks to check on us and she had flagged the dining room floor as a health hazard.
“We have between 20 to 40 residents per meal who use this dining room, so it was important we get it done.
“As a home, we had been trying to renovate parts of the home, so we instead decided to prioritise the dining room floor even though we didn’t have the finances for it.
“We put out an appeal for help, and thankfully, AfriForum helped us,” says Ludwig Zuhlfdorss, a trustee at Rus ’n Bietjie.

AfriForum’s Richard Lubbe says a community-based organisation, they are always looking for projects they can do locally.
“We heard about Rus ’n Bietjie and how they struggle with finances and upkeep of the building, so we decided to help them as we knew it would be good for the community as a whole as the home serves the whole community, and majority of the residents are from Springs,” says Lubbe.
Zuhlfdorss says they are grateful for the support from AfriForum as the elderly are often forgotten by the community.
Zuhlfdorss says they will continue with various projects throughout the year and says those interested in helping can contact him on 011 811 2990 or 011 811 2991.
