Suspects trick woman into letting them inside the house

They then ransacked the house. A TV, coffee machine, jewellery box, perfume, tool box and meat from the fridge were taken.

A 66-year-old woman was tricked by suspects into opening the gate for them during a house robbery in Archibald Street last Thursday afternoon.

According to Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora, the woman was busy with laundry when she heard a car hooting at the gate.

She went to investigate and found a silver car with three men inside who claimed they were there to fix the air-conditioning.

When the woman informed the suspects the owner of the house did not tell her anything about people coming to fix the air-conditioning, the suspects pretended to call the owner and even mentioned her by name.
