The Springs CPF and Springs police gathered for their first mass patrol since the start of the pandemic.
Leading from the front was Springs SAPS station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe and Springs CPF exco board chairperson Barend van Heerden. They were joined by Blue Hawk Tactical security company and its K9 unit.
Together, they had 130 vehicles patrolling Springs in a convoy approximately 1.3km long. Van Heerden said they all came together as one massive family in a show of strength and unity.
“This was to show the Springs community and businesses that we all are there for you in these times of uncertainty,” said van Heerden.
During the patrol, they drove over 7 460km in 121 vehicles. Van Heerden said it was a team effort to get the patrol done successfully.
“There were so many people who were of this great team. To the members, we couldn’t do this without you all.
“It’s just awesome to see the commitment and I salute you all. I am proud of each and everyone that came together.

“I know that it was cold, but I can’t wait for summer to do this mass operation patrol again, where we can break more records because this was a quarter of our patrollers.
“We must also remember the CPSF members that passed away. God will keep you all safe now, till we meet again, as I know that you all would have been here on patrol,” said van Heerden.
The patrol ended with a prayer, thanking God for guiding the participants and keeping them safe during the night.
