It was another day of soccer action at Veritas College soccer grounds on Saturday when various junior teams played against one another.
In one of the League 2 games, the U10 Springs Premier FC team dominated the opposition by 4-0 in a game played against Olympia FC.
Tiro Mahlabane was a goal short of a hat-trick while his teammates Morena Madingoane and Abelek Adunga scored the third and fourth goals respectively.
Coach Modisaotsile Nyokong said, “The game started quite slowly as we struggled a bit because kids of this age find the first five minutes tough. After the first goal, our morale increased, and the boys did well.“

Springs Premier FC is at the top of the League 2 log standings with 43 points. Olympia’s coach, Kabelo Seboko, said going into the game plan was to utilise their wingers while pushing down the line.
“My players didn’t come to training, so they were already tired during the second half. We plan on making tactical adjustments to improve their performance,” he said.
The last game of the day was the U11 Springs Premier FC against Pitso Mosimane. The nail-biting game got off to a heated start as both teams tried scoring without success.
The second half ended 0-0. Pitso Mosimane FC came back with full force, scoring the first goal of the match just five minutes into the second half.

The team scored two more goals as the opposition tried creating chances, which yielded no goals. The winning team’s coach, Sipho Tau, stated that they made adjustments in the second half which accelerated their victory.
“We told the players to put pressure on the ball because they were allowing too much space. We wanted to retain the ball within eight seconds, which made it difficult for the opposition to get the ball,” Tau said.
He said after the first half that he almost lost hope as he watched the boys create chances which yielded no goals.
“We couldn’t match up to them during the first half, but in the second half, the opposition got tired and we took advantage of that. We play our matches with high intensity throughout the game,” he said.
Coach Greg White said that although his team lost, he is proud of both teams.
