Heartfelt balloon release in Springs supports GBV shutdown

In support of the Women for Change shutdown, local women released purple balloons. If you took part in the initiative, send through your photos.

To stand in solidarity with women, children, and members of the LGBTQI community who have been victims of gender-based violence, a group of young women in Springs carried out a heartfelt gesture by releasing purple balloons.

They did this to show their support for the Women for Change shutdown initiative, which encouraged South Africans to wear black on November 21 and refrain from participating in the economy.

Though simple, this gesture serves as a powerful symbol of support for victims of violence at the hands of men.

If you took part in the initiative, whether by dressing in black, marching, or through any other act of support, send your photo to buhle@caxton.co.za
