Springs Seniors Club ends the year with festive luncheon
Members enjoyed dancing, carols, and fellowship as the club reflected on achievements and appealed for transport support.
The Springs Senior Citizens Club wrapped up the year with a members-only Christmas-themed luncheon on December 5 at their centre.
The festivities began with dance performances from the exercising ladies, followed by a sing-along to Christmas carols.
The club members participated in raffles, where some members walked away with gift hampers. Speaking to the Springs Advertiser, the club manager, Pauline Houghton, said 2025 has been a wonderful year for the club.
She also said they could register new members and add activities for the seniors.

“We have over 150 members and are doing over 100 meals on Fridays, so we are happy to have people join the club,” said Houghton.
She also said the aim of the club is to bring people together, create friendships and memories, and celebrate all this year’s achievements.
Despite the its achievements, the club was also a victim of crime when thieves stole the gate motor at the centre.
Houghton shared that the club had to pay for its replacement from its own pocket, which left a dent.

She also said the closure of the Malan Nel Community Centre had left its members with no place to socialise, and the club could welcome these members.
In the plans for 2026, the club manager hopes more businesses will help the club and add activities for its members.
“Our biggest struggle is obtaining transport for our members when going on outings. We would appreciate it if businesses could sponsor a bus for the members,” concluded Houghton.
The club will be closed for the festive season and open again on January 12. Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Houghton on 083 392 6763.
