Springs SAPS bid farewell to three officers ahead of retirement

The Springs SAPS recently hosted a farewell in honour of Lieutenant Colonel Kchechane Kchechane, Rosemary Nelisiwe Mkasi and Warrant Officer Moses Molepo, who are set to retire after decades of dedicated service.

Lieutenant Colonel Kchechane Kchechane, Colonel Rosemary Nelisiwe Mkasi and Warrant Officer Moses Molepo are soon-to-be pensioners, so the Springs SAPS recently honoured them during a farewell for their service.

Programme director Warrant Officer Sipho Ndubane welcomed the guests and introduced Lieutenant Colonel Mandi Davel, who shared a farewell message about Molepo.

Molepo began his career as a student in 1988 before completing his training. In 1989, he was stationed at the Springs Police Station, where he served ever since.

“During his 37 years of service, he completed 11 courses. He received 10- and 20-year loyal service medals, the 10-year commemoration medal, the Soccer World Cup medal in 2010 and his 30-year loyal service medal,” Davel said.

She encouraged him to enjoy his last days in the SAPS and his well–earned rest.

Mkasi was appointed as a constable in 1986, promoted to sergeant in 1995, warrant officer in 1999, captain in 2006 and lieutenant colonel in 2015. Colonel Karen Stoltz highlighted her achievements, noting she had received the faithful service medal after 10 years, the 20-year loyal service medal and, in 2016, the 30-year medal.

Mkasi began working in Springs in 2015, where she worked closely with Stoltz and other officers.

“It was an honour working with you for the past 11 years. Your leadership, dedication and hard work in supply chain management have impacted all of us,” Stoltz said.

Sergeant Norman Khaba paid tribute to all three retirees. Speaking about Kchechane, he said he would miss their daily discussions and the guidance Kchechane always provided.

“Throughout the years that I have worked with him, he has always been a source of guidance. I thank his family for giving him to us all these years. His hard work was admirable, and we will miss him,” Khaba said.

The farewell was marked by music, refreshments and tributes to the three officers who dedicated decades of service to the SAPS.
