Well done EMM

I wish to applaud the EMM for progressive work as illustrated at the Mayoral Imbizo on August 14, at the Bakerton Community Center.

I was beyond impressed to note their future plans of creating sustainable human settlements for our people. This clearly indicates how strongly our municipality values the importance of a democratic right to have access to adequate housing.

I would like to raise two concerns in relation to ward 72.

Our public library (Bakerton) has insufficient equipment. It only has four computers available for public usage. This library is supposed to cater to Payneville, Bakerton, Gugulethu, Everest and Slovo Park.

Textbooks, especially in the field of law, are outdated. One would hence argue that our library is turning into a museum. I would kindly urge the relevant department to look into the matter.

Last but not least, the issue of illegal immigrants. It is apparent that the EMPD has already made arrests to control the crisis. I would suggest a cooperation between the aforesaid department and the police.

If the issue of illegal immigrants can be controlled within our ward, then our municipality will not experience any pressure in respect of service delivery.
