Delayed actions without results

Referring to the response article placed October 17, 2013 in the Advertiser by the Metro

I am reading the response article placed in the paper referred to as above for the tenth time.

As the time is now 03:45am, Thursday- another sleepless night, November 7.

Once again it is with mixed emotions that I am putting pen to paper.

I was extremely glad that we now have the attention of all concerned parties caring about this ongoing noise irritation that was highlighted as far back as February 2013 (completely ignored at the time by council/police ect.) and resurfaced again as per articles placed in the paper on September 26.

Does the SAPS actually serve the community?

October 10, when we get a decent nights rest (explaining the concerned by-laws so explicit that even the parties that should know them understand their role in executing them – well done to the author) and October 17- Metro response to noise pollution.

The reason why I have mixed emotions is that I now thought that the ANC governed local council was listening to the residents paying their salaries (this is now the ANC council’s salaries for those that still do not grasp the concept) and are doing something about the noise irritation, although it has taken a number of complaints and 10 months to act.

Yet we are very thankful for the result it has brought along.

I am distraught that it is now nearly a month later since the article was placed as a very positive indication of how the issue will be dealt with.

Now my question is how long council will take in this action as so clearly explained?

Can we please have a positive feedback on this too?

Please not another number of letters and 10 months down the line.

The noise problem in 2nd Avenue in Springs is under investigation.

Consultation also took place with the shop owners/managers of the premises and notices were served. A meeting was also held with the complainant.

Noise levels will be measured and if the noise nuisance continues, the matter will be referred to the EMM’s Legal Department for possible prosecution.
