They don’t want the work

We are told all the time in the media that there are so many people who are unemployed, and that they are crying out for work.

I have telephoned, in the last two weeks, several people who have advertised looking for home improvement work.

Three times I have arranged my day so as to be at home to see them for work I need to do at my house.

Three times I have waited in vain for them to arrive, or to have the courtesy to phone me and say that they cannot come.

They must all be very well off to be able to ignore a call.

I am also now quite relieved that they did not do any work for me, because if they are not reliable enough to keep an appointment, then how reliable are they when it comes to doing what we ask them to?

Maybe it will be better to get a bigger firm in?
