Generous gesture

A thank you letter written by a thankful reader.

I would like to thank Mark Kriel, Kobus Jordaan and Laurika from a battery company in Geduld.

This company has walked more than a thousand miles to help me.

As a disabled person my only freedom is my wheelchair and the batteries were finished.

The price of the two batteries was way beyond my means as I receive a pension and as you all know, the inflation doesn’t allow some of us to buy the necessities.

The batteries were a luxury, if I can put it that way.

Laurika phoned with the price of a battery and I asked her to stop looking as this is way out of my reach.

I phoned Kobus to inform him too and to thank them for helping me find a battery I could maybe afford.

I told him to leave it and he said to me to hang on he will see what he can do.

I made peace to stay home until one day I will be able to save to buy my freedom back.

At about 1.30pm, Kobus phoned me to tell me the great news that Mark has decided that to give it to me for free.

My joy was overflowing and I want to thank every person involved.

Also thank you to my Saviour for giving hope to me when I was lost in despair.

That is an outstanding service and the biggest gift for my birthday which is in a few weeks.

I appreciate this gift and I am honoured to say that there are still good people out there who has a good heart and empathy for disabled people.

May the blessing rain upon your company and take it from strength to strength.

Thank you is a small word, but with the most power when you mean it, I do.

Maude Dannhauser.
