I disagree with comments on park

I say that this is all a huge exaggeration.

I disagree with the statements made concerning the park in Selcourt Enclosure.

Because I disagree with you, Ms Rokebrand, does not make me a “whiner”.

I have lived in Selcourt for many years.

I have never seen any of the terrible things that you and Mr du Toit describe.

Read here about it and more about it.

You paint a terrible picture of hooligans in cars and on quad bikes zooming around chasing people and animals.

And all this with security guards at the boom gate and a patrol vehicle on call.

And the late night parties and the mess?

I say that this is all a huge exaggeration and that you are the “whiners”.

Quad bikes and off-road motor bikes can still get in, have you not noticed?

But they have never bothered me or chased me or my dogs around the park.

Yes, the park is busy at the end where the car park and the children’s playground is, but I do not want to be at this side.

I want the peace and quietness at the far end, and to park in the shade under a tree at lunchtime, as I and other people did.

And if we want to braai do not tell me to walk with everything we need, from the car park.

I can never remember the wooden fence being broken.

For at least 15 years there were two gaps to allow cars in and probably the fence was built so, in the first place.

It is the only fenced-in park, so where are all the hooligans in the other parks?

I say that the SRA has a very selfish and inconsiderate attitude and they have denied access to a public place.

And to put a fence around a piece of grass in Selcourt, then to compare it to a park overseas, is beyond my belief!

Park Lover.
