Game of their lives
This weekend Springs Stealers played the game of their lives against Kempton Park's Red Sox. It was a tussle for the top spot in the crossover league.

Stealers, being the away team, started with the bat and faced Jason Palmer, an accomplished pitcher in the league.
The first three Stealers batters were taken out with two ground outs and a fly ball set the stage for the struggle that Stealers would have to put runs on the board.
Red Sox then began their batting, facing Chris Stone, and got their first batter on with a shallow fly to right.
After two outs from a fly and a strikeout, Red Sox got two runs before the side could be sent back into the field.
Stealers once more could not get a runner on, as hard hit ground balls were successfully dispatched by Red Sox. Back on the field and after stringing three hits to the outfield, Red Sox extended their lead by another run, making it 3-0.
Once more Stealers struggled with the pitcher and after three strikeouts found themselves back on the field.
Stealers were not going to lie down and for the first time sent Red Sox back into the field without allowing a runner to reach first.
This buoyed the Stealers batters and after a hard hit single from Matthew Scrooby, a pitch in the ribs of Geoffrey Merrifield managed to get their first run on a ground out by Francois McGregor. Unfortunately Chris Stone was struck out on a high strike to end the inning on a score of 3-1.
Stealers still showed no sign of backing down and retired the Red Sox batters with a strikeout and a fantastic double play started by Francois at second, to Jules Tancrel at first then across the diamond to Leon Tancrel at third.
However they still could not score during their own batting leaving the score still 3-1 in Red Sox’s favour.
In the field once more Stealers prevented Red Sox from furthering their lead with a solid pick off from Geoffrey at catch, a strikeout and fly out.
Stealers, when back in to bat, for the first time in the game began to string solid hits together and with a triple from Francois and single from Geoffrey, Jules and Chris tied the game at 3-3.
Stealers turned pitching responsibility over to Francois and with the fielders working like a well-oiled machine sent Red Sox back into the field without scoring.
Stealers now getting to grips with the pitch scored another run taking the lead 4-3.
Red Sox however were not going to back down either and managed to level the scores once more at 4 all.
Red Sox came out to field and the desperate Stealers were retired without being able to take the lead, leaving the game tied.
Red Sox came up for their last batting and Stealers became a bit too desperate. After two throwing errors, two runs scored and the game was over, Stealers loosing 4-6.
Stealers will play their last crossover game next weekend in Benoni.
