Blackfin swimmers enjoy Midmar
Blackfin Swimming Club's swimmers did very well overall at the Midmar Mile, which took place at the Midmar Dam over the weekend of February 7 to 9.

“Thankfully it was a fantastic weekend with regards to the weather,” says club secretary Deidre van Biljon.
The fastest swimmer was Derryn Nel in a time of 22:33.
Deidre says the youngest swimmer Byron Smit also managed to finish, completing his first swim and enjoyed it so much that he cannot wait for next year’s event.
Individual results are: Abigail Penman 29:32, Jenny Roper 36:40, Tarryn Roper 35:22, Kim de Klerk 33:33, Taryn de Klerk 38:42, Alexia Antonaides 30:00, Nicole Patao 39:59, Veronique Palm 36:17 and Naledi Qubu 42:15.
Claudia Katsapas finished in 37:25, Chris Dravillas 44:22, Byron Smit 41:42, Reece Page 30:22, Connor Page 39:19, Melvin Nel 26:01, Fabio Pellizzon 32:41, Mitchel Pritchard 27:59, Shaun Krestel 26:18 and Kieran Pinfold 33:39.
It is Dylan van Biljon’s fourth Midmar Mile but he wasn’t very happy with his time of 27:49.
“I am not happy with my time as I wanted to finish in 24 minutes.
“Better luck next year,” he says, “I look forward to next year’s Midmar, where I can do better,” says Dylan.
All the masters did exceptionally well with the fastest being Malcolm Pritchard in a time of 31:00 and Riana Palm not far behind him with her 31:43.
She was followed by Frith Cooper in 32:21, Vicky Page in 39:01, Clive Roper 39:24, Anthea Dravillas 40:50, Shirley Williams 45:12 and Lorraine Rautenbach finished in 51:02.
