Don’t stop praying for Alessia

eMalahleni's little cancer warrior, Alessia Tolmay, is out of theatre after a six hour long operation this morning. Mom, Luzaan said Alessia is doing very well.

eMalahleni’s young cancer-warrior, Alessia Tolmay, went in for another operation.

After six hours in theatre this morning, she is finally out and in ICU.Alessia is fighting Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer.

” The operation went as well as expected with no complications and all of the tumour they could reach successfully removed. Any remaining cancer cells will be treated by the planned chemo and radiation. Thank you so much for all the thoughts, prayers, messages and love. We really appreciate you all,”mom, Luzaan said.

This was diagnosed after weeks of experiencing severe back pain, which escalated dramatically when she woke up without any function in her legs.

Alessia was promptly rushed to the hospital on October 6 last year for X-rays and was later referred to Steve Biko Hospital in Pretoria.

After undergoing CT scans and MRI’s, doctors discovered a large mass growing in her chest that was intricately connected to her spine. Alessia underwent surgery where they successfully removed part of the tumor that was attached to her spine.

The mass was sent in for testing and they confirmed that it was cancerous.

“We have had the best month at home, resting, enjoying time with loved ones and just enjoying ‘normal’ family life,” Luzaan said.

“We ask for everyone to please make this operation a prayer priority. We speak life over our little girl and a covering over that theatre room, that our little warrior will come out victorious once more.”
