Robbers hold up security guard

Robbers escaped from a security complex with a stolen generator

Robbers escaped from a security complex with a stolen generator after threatening the security guard at the front gate who refused to open for them.

On November 11 at 18:00 a complex in Highveld Park was burgled when three unknown men in a Toyota bakkie entered the complex. The security guard told police that the vehicle had a resident sticker on and he opened for them assuming they live in the complex.

Apparently after less than 10 minutes the bakkie pulled up to the gate again ready to leave only this time they had a generator on the back.
The security guard thought this looked slightly suspicious but before he could react one of the robbers pulled a gun on him. They apparently noticed his hesitation to open the gate for them. The guard stepped away refusing to open the gate but one of the robbers got out of the vehicle and went into the guard booth to open it themselves. They fled the scene with no shot fired.

A business burglary took place on November 12 that was discovered that morning at 06:30. The roof was broken open and the burglars gained entrance through a hole in the ceiling. They found that a copper welding machine worth several thousand rand was stolen. A case was opened at the Witbank SAPS.
