Armed gang targets kota outlet and local substation
Police are appealing for public assistance following two robberies targeting a kota business in Kwa-Guqa and a local substation.
Vosman SAPS is investigating two separate armed business robberies that targeted a kota business and a substation.
According to police, a Kwa-Guqa woman was preparing kotas with her sister on the evening of September 8 when three masked men confronted them.
One of the men allegedly cocked a firearm and demanded cash and cellphones.
The gang took two phones and cash before fleeing when a passing security vehicle approached.
In a separate incident on September 10 at around 01:00, a security guard on duty at a local substation told the police that he heard a noise at the gate.

As he prepared to open the guardroom door, he said he was confronted by an armed man who ordered him to lie on the floor.
Three accomplices joined the gunman and tied the guard’s hands with wire.
While one suspect stood guard, the rest of the gang reportedly spent roughly two hours digging up underground electrical cables.

When the gunman watching him walked outside, the guard managed to untie himself and flee to seek help. By the time he returned with his supervisor, the robbers had vanished.
