Community rescues delivery workers locked inside company vehicle in Kromdraai
The Kromdraai incident is one of three recent armed robberies under investigation.
Vosman SAPS is investigating three armed robberies, including an incident where delivery workers were locked inside their truck until residents rescued them.
In the most recent incident, which occurred around 13:00 on September 25, a woman told police she was walking along a street in Vosman after buying groceries when a white VW Polo pulled up beside her. She alleged a man got out of the car, held her at gunpoint, and robbed her of her handbag containing cash, two cellphones and as cosmetics, before fleeing.
Delivery team locked in truck
Two days earlier, on September 23, two delivery workers were targeted around 10:20 at a tuckshop in Kromdraai while delivering bread. According to police, one worker said he heard a firearm cocking and turned to see his colleague being grabbed by an armed man. Another gunman grabbed him, and both workers were forced into the back of their delivery truck.
The gunmen demanded cash and their cellphones before locking them inside.
Community members acted swiftly when they heard the victims’ shouts, unlocking the vehicle to rescue them. The robbers fled on foot with the stolen cellphones and cash.

Gang attacks pedestrian from parked taxi
On the evening of September 20, a man walking to a shop in Hlalanikahle Phase 4 was attacked by a gang waiting inside a stationary taxi.
The victim told police the gang forcefully dragged him into the vehicle, assaulted him with a firearm, and took money from his pockets. He was then forced to his home, where the robbers demanded more money from his mother. After she gave them cash, they fled.
