Learners dribble against drugs

The aim was to show how sport can be best used to support the war against drug and substance abuse

The war against drugs and substance abuse has been taken to the sports fields.

On Friday, August 9 school soccer and netball teams from Coronation, Kopanang, Pine Ridge and Elukhanyisweni battled it out at the Pine Ridge Stadium.

The aim was to show how sport can be best used to support the war against drug and substance abuse.

Proportional Representative (PR) councillor Shafie Jallal said the day was a huge success.

“Drug and substance abuse is a problem amongst the youth. Sport gives them a purpose in life,” Jallal said.

The day was in collaboration between the municipality and the Emalahleni Sports Council.
