Golfers tee off for Gereformeerde Kerk Hoëveld community fundraiser

The second annual Gereformeerde Kerk Hoëveld Golf Day brought together players and sponsors in support of local care and outreach initiatives.

Golfers from across South Africa gathered at the Witbank Golf Club on October 2 for the Gereformeerde Kerk Hoëveld Golf Day to support vulnerable community members.

Organisers said the annual fundraising event, now in its second year, has shown encouraging growth, attracting participants from various regions, including Mbombela and beyond.

The golf day was established to raise funds for institutions and projects that care for and support those in need.

Among the beneficiaries are SAVF Immergroen, which cares for elderly residents, and the tunnel project at Huis Betsie Louw.

Funds raised through the event will help support the institution and other community initiatives focused on improving the lives of pensioners and vulnerable people.

Louisa Jansen van Vuuren of the Gereformeerde Kerk Hoëveld said the initiative is about more than just fundraising.

“Through this initiative, we aim to build stronger partnerships in the community and provide meaningful support where it is needed most for our pensioners,” she said.

She emphasised that Immergroen needs a backup generator due to the unstable power supply.

Jansen van Vuuren said the golf day also creates an opportunity for businesses, community members and organisations to work together while making a positive contribution to those who need support.

She expressed gratitude for the continued support the golf day has received since its launch last year.
