Terence’s iron grip is back in action
Terence is affiliated at the South African Pro Arm Federation
If it is his left arm or his right arm, Terence Opperman is sure to have you down within a split second.
This international arm wrestler is back in action after an absence of 10 months.
Terence competed at Gas Monkey Pub & Grill on July 2 and after successfully winning all 10 his competitors he said, “It is good to be back. The next step is the world championships.”
Who knows if it won’t be Terence who will make changes in the ranking of the top arm wrestlers of the world in the upcoming world championships taking place in Poland in early December?
Terence is an ‘old’ hand when it comes to international competitions.
He competed in the Zlotytur in Poland, A1 in Russia and several world championships.
He had been abroad for 17 times testing his power and skills against international arm wrestlers.
Terence has his sight set on Krasimir Kostadinov.
“I had a match against him in 2015. I lost against him in a lengthy match. I am ready to give him a go again.”
Preparations for the upcoming world championships are well on par.
“Everything is going according to the plan. I’m paying special attention to training the hook. I changed my technique in 2009, by now I am pretty confident that I have mastered it.”
Although arm wrestling is an age old sport that has been practiced in a highly competitive environment, and that is currently recognised as an organised sport and is extremely popular around the world, it is still a growing sport in Africa, and also within South Africa.
Terence is affiliated at the South African Pro Arm Federation.
He is opening an arm wrestling club right here in eMalahleni. If you are interested in the sport, contact him on 072 623 5233.
