Career day at Shiloh
Our country is overwhelmed by too many challenges; challenges when left unattended have a potential to undo all the gains made over the twenty years of democracy.

One of these challenges has to do with the ticking time bomb in the form of unemployed youth in particular and unemployment in general.
Youth unemployment is a result of a myriad of factors and one of which is making wrong career choices.
Besides, wrong career choice is a very costly mistake. Let us break down the expense in this regard, just to show how expensive this can be for a four-year qualification:
*R500 is normally spent for registration
*R9000 x 4 = R36 000 spent for tutorials
*R3500 x 10 x 4 = R140 000 for accommodation
*R1500 x 10 x4 = R60 000 for pocket money
Total on average is R236 500
The above excludes the time spent. Imagine 48 months wasted.
Having wasted 4 years; having wasted R236 500; having enjoyed the support of family and friends, the young person can’t find work because the business world does not need what they have studied for. What a disgrace! What a tragedy!
Imagine the frustration that the young person and their family will experience. Some even end up being addicted to drugs and alcohol abuse just to find solace.
It is as a result of this that Shiloh Tabernacle of Christ felt it was prudent to organise a Career Day to empower the youth and their parents regarding all of the above. This event has been scheduled as follows on Saturday, March 1, starting at 08:30 and admission is free. The event will take place at the Shiloh Tabernacle of Christ – behind the Lynnville Community Hall.
The following speakers have been lined up:
*Thabiso Mabogoane – You can start your own business and make it in life
*Tony Mphahlele – Career opportunities in the public sector.
*Charles Maseko – Career opportunities in the financial sector
*Mbali Mapaila – What is available in the Engineering world of work
*Dr. Bongani Nkosi – Motivational Speaker. “You determine your own destiny.
It is also important to note that there will be stalls for exhibitions by some departments and organizations where other important questions, not raised during the presentations, might be answered.
Shiloh Tabernacle of Christ is committed to winning souls for the Lord. But it is also part of Shiloh’s commitment to ensure that our youth is guided accordingly in order to pursue relevant careers in order to rightfully become assets to our community and to enjoy the fruits of their intelligence and wisdom.
