The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, told how he became part of crime statistics on Thursday, February 13 when three suspects allegedly targeted him in the Central Business District.
“I had parked my car in a street downtown, where I stopped to have lunch at a shopping centre,” he said.
When the man walked back to his vehicle, he apparently noticed three men standing close by, watching him.
“For all I knew they could have been car guards.”
As soon as the motorist opened the door of his vehicle, the unknown men rushed to grab him.
One of the suspects allegedly held a knife to his ribs, whilst another pointed a knife towards his face, as they demanded money and valuables.
“I did not have cash on me, so they took my gold chain, the work’s cell phone and digital camera.”
The suspects fled the scene whilst other people in the street allegedly just watched.
“No one did anything to help. In fact it felt as though people had been watching me since I got there.”
A case was opened at Witbank Police Station, but no arrests have yet been made.
