Emalahleni’s beauties crowned in Turkey

Who knew eMalahleni had such talent? After a grueling almost 20-hour flight, four young local beauties returned home from Turkey, Bodrum with four very big titles.

The four contestants, all from eMalahleni, proudly showed off their achieved titles with pride.

Bronwyn Naidoo (9), Grade 4 pupil from Laerskool Kragbron, won Photo Model of the World 2014.
Megan Naidoo (11) Grade 6 pupil from Laerskool Kragbron, won Little Miss Globe 2014
Tenae Marriott (15), Grade 9 pupil at Cambridge Academy, walked away with the title of Miss World Junior 2014 as well as ‘Best of the Best’ (Obtaining the highest score in the senior division throughout the entire pageant).
Monique Badenhorst (16) Gr 11 pupil at Hoër Tegniese Skool Witbank, won Miss Globe Junior 2014.

The four beauties were invited to compete in the 23rd annual Little/ Junior Miss World pageant and so on May 5 they flew to Turkey to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The pageant week started off with rehearsals, photo shoots and press interviews. The 2014 entrants had a chance to compete in a fashion show together with the finalists of the Miss 7 Continents Pageant in the middle of Bodrum City where thousands of people came to watch.
The official crowning of Little/ Junior Miss World took place on Monday evening May 12 at 21:00. Excitement was in the air as the 2014 crowning event had four dress changes, live entertainment and a panel of 15 judges.

The pageant was judged on: souvenirs, charity involvement, talent, eveningwear, national-costume, photo-shoot, etc.
The team from eMalahleni stood out and impressed the judges with their incredible charm, style and presenting.

Andries du Preez, who coached the young models, expressed his excitement saying that he is so very ‘proud of these four magnificent beauties, together with their chaperones that assisted in making the trip so memorable’.
“You girls portrait yourselves exactly as I have taught you. You showed gratitude and even though you came back with four big titles, it did not change who you are. All of you still remained the beautiful girls you were before getting on the plane.”

Bronwyn, Megan, Tenaé and Monique thanks all their sponsors, contributors, family, friends and respective schools; who supported them in making this dream come true.

Friendships were made in Turkey and loads of memories were gathered… but for now the four Beauty Queens aim to do a lot of charity in and around eMalahleni, Mpumalanga and the beautiful country of South Africa.
