WCMAS celebrates 80 years
Witbank Coalfields Medical Aid Scheme (WCMAS) was born in 1935 and they celebrated their 80th birthday.
They are one of the oldest medical schemes in South Africa and most efficient affordable schemes around.
The annual expenditure soon escalated to R142 million in 2000, whilst the principal members increased to 10 000 members and 27 000 beneficiaries.
WCMAS has always invested surplus monies wisely to grow their reserve fund and the newly erected complex in 2000 is a proof of this. This is the heart of the organisation and a staff compliment of 27 ensures that continued validation and correct payment of claims are processed through the industry leading systems and procedures from the IT team, admin, claims, fiancé and marketing.
Glencore, Anglo Coal, Exxaro, Msobo, Mafube Colliery, and Anglo Inyosi Coal retired members, principal officer and board members are extremely proud to be associated with Witbank Coalfields Medical Aid Scheme.
WCMAS has partnered with Amadwala Group Benefits to be an extension of their service to their members, applying the same core values and principles.
In their quest to improve, WCMAS has identified that they do have some challenges in:
*The demographics of members that change;
*HR and payroll that aren’t always in a position to supply information;
*The fact that WCMAS are not the only option available to members and the fact that members don’t always understand the benefits of the savings accounts, PMB’s, ICD10 codes and more.
“This is an exotic event for WCMAS for the first time in 80 years that they are presenting the new benefits for 2015 that has of the lowest cost.
We also encourage our members to search ‘Witbank Coalfields’ on Facebook. If you like us on Facebook, you will receive regular posts of important matters. This will include notices of rule amendments, updates on service providers, attention to important benefits, preventative care initiatives and many more,” said a spokesperson for the association.
