An armed robbery took place on January 9 when Mr Asif Sheikh was held at gunpoint and threatened.
“Our family has a shop in Highland Square and my uncle went to fetch a phone there,” said Mr Zain Sheikh.
Sheikh went to the shop accompanied by his six-year-old son. He left his son in the car, a white Mazda Etude, and retrieved the phone from the shop. On his way back to the car, he noticed a bakkie and another car pull up alongside his car.
Three suspects exited the vehicle, one was armed with a firearm and cocked it.
The suspect demanded that Sheikh hand over his keys and get into the vehicle.
“My uncle refused, his son was still inside the car, he unlocked the car got his son and ran off,” said Sheik.
The man and his son were unharmed in the armed robbery, but the suspects managed to steal the vehicle as well as the cellular phone which he had collected from the shop.
The vehicle is still missing as police investigations continue, no arrests have yet been made.
