Witbank SAPS investigates 2 murders

One man was shot dead at a tavern in Coronation while another one was found dead with stab wounds and head injuries inside a burning house in MNS.

Two men died in separate violent incidents occurring within an hour of each other in eMalahleni on October 3.

Police find stabbed victim inside burning house

According to the police, the first incident occurred in MNS around 01:00 when the officers on duty received a report of a dead body. Upon arrival on the scene, an official from the fire department led the officers to a room inside the house, which had previously been on fire. There they found a man lying lifeless on the floor with stab wounds to his neck and right shoulder, as well as severe head injuries.

Just over an hour later, police received a report regarding another murder at a tavern in Coronation. When police responded to the scene, they discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his head. Three cartridges were recovered at the scene.

No arrests have been made in connection with either incident. Police investigations into both murders are continuing.

Officers appeal for community assistance

Witbank SAPS Warrant Officer David Ratau noted with concern the increasing number of murders taking place in MNS.



“We urge the community to work with us by reporting any criminal activities taking place in these areas,” Ratau said.


He further urged anyone with information on either of the two incidents to visit the station or call 079 891 5570 or 013 655 5052.
