The question on Mr Martin du Preez, branch manager of Impa Paint’s lips is how many more times will they break into the shop.
Since the previous article that appeared in the WITBANK NEWS in November, Du Preez has been a victim of crime three times.
On Wednesday, January 7 at approximately 20:20 the bathroom window was broken and the suspect entered the shop.
He ran into the building and went to check the cash register that was left open. When he noticed that there was no money, the suspect went to the back of the shop, where he stole four cans of five litre paint and made his way out.
Witbank SAPS were called out and fingerprints were taken.
“I am not sure what they are doing with all this paint, but it is killing my business,” said Du Preez.
Du Preez’s business was closed most of the day because he needed to sort out things in the shop and arrange with the insurance company again.
“I suspect it is the same person who broke into my vehicle, which was parked at the back of the shop by the bathroom window. The person would have noticed that I don’t have any burglar proofing on this window,” said Du Preez.
“The car stood there for a few days and in the first week of January it was broken into,” said Du Preez.
Then on December 16, Du Preez received a phone call from the security company that the alarm had gone off once again.
When Du Preez returned to the shop they had managed to break a small hole in the shatterproof window and grab two tins of paint from the shelf.
On November 8 and 22 the shop was broken into.
“Less than three months after opening the shop it has been broken into four times,” said Du Preez.
