A house robbery occurred on February 10 at about 10:40. Ms Sbongile Mabasa was cleaning the house in Buffalo Street, Reyno Ridge when she heard hooting at the gate, she walked to the main bedroom and looked through the window, where she saw a white Volkswagen Polo standing at the gate.
She returned to her duties, but the car continued to hoot.
Mabasa walked back to the main bedroom and she saw that the gate had been broken open, she was about to leave the bedroom, when three men stormed into the house, they pursued her into the room and held her at gunpoint.
“One of the men told me not to look at him, he said he would kill me, he said they were just after the goods and covered me with the duvet,” said Mabasa.
The robbers asked Mabasa where the safe key was, she replied from under the duvet that she didn’t know where it was, one of the other robbers told her not to worry they would tell her when they were done and would leave.
The robbers took a number of items from the house including two firearms, a television, cellular phone, jewellery, blankets and the safe which they couldn’t open at the time.
They then left, Mabasa continued to lie under the duvet for quite some time until the sounds of the robbers faded to nothing. Then she peeped out from under the blanket and walked to the front of the house, they had taken her phone, however she managed to borrow the phone of a passer by and contacted her employer, reporting the robbery.
