Teachers and principal still not back at school

Principal and two teachers of Hoërskool Reynopark have been suspended for a week already after alleged racist remarks were made.

Mr Wolla Ras (principal), Ms Bella Ras (Grade 12 teacher) and Mr Leon McKenzie (Grade 9 teacher) will remain suspended until the investigation is complete.

On Wednesday, February 18 Ms Ras went to Witbank Police Station, where a case of common assault was opened against the learner.
It is alleged that Ms Ras heard a noise outside. She then walked out of her classroom to see what all the noise was about.
She noticed that a learner was standing outside the door of another teacher’s class. Ms Ras and the learner then got into an argument and the scholar allegedly assaulted Ms Ras.

On Monday, February 16 Mpumalanga Education Department suspended the two teachers and the principal as the department investigates the situation.
