WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT – Video: Alleged vandal suffers severe burn wounds

In spite of sustaining painful burn wounds, thieves return time and again to vandalise electrical substation.

One such incident occurred on Thursday, March 12. He suffered severe burns all over his torso, arms and face.
The skin was left hanging off his body and some of his hair also burnt off.

A community member in Lynnville made a video of him after he got burnt and came running out of the substation.
Community members, who live near the substation, heard an explosion.
Members of the community shouted at him asking him, “What were you doing? You brought this on yourself, what were you doing in the substation?”

The burnt victim shouted back in pain; “I am burning, I am dying and it is so painful, please get an ambulance!”
Angry residents in the area who saw him, told him that he should walk to the nearby clinic for help.
The municipality managed to restore power to Lynnville and parts of Ackerville, who were without power for six hours.

Last week WITBANK NEWS reported on Friday, March 13 about an incident where a person was burnt while vandalising a substation. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment, where the police them arrested him.
