Women are warmed about a possible rape syndicate on the Old Ogies Road.
For two women the nightmare of being raped became a reality last week.

On Wednesday, June 29 at 22:10 a 31-year-old woman alleged that she arrived at work for duty on the Verena Road.
While she and her colleague were on duty in the guard room, an unknown person arrived there and was looking for a particular person.

The woman and her colleague searched all over for the person in question.
She returned back to the guard room with her colleague, by this stage there were four men in the yard.
As the 31-year-old was busy in the guard room, three of the other suspects grabbed her colleague, tied up him up outside and robbed him of his belongings.

The fourth suspect then raped her.

Shortly afterwards all the suspects disappeared into the darkness and they left two guards distraught.
On the Old Ogies Road, the fourth rape for the month occurred in the bushes.
A 23-year-old woman was on her way to Black Hill which is about 30km away from eMalahleni on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:00.

While she was standing alongside the road waiting for a lift, an unknown man approached her.
He started making a conversation with her and suggested that they walk together until they get a lift.
He suddenly drew a knife. For this woman it was the beginning of a traumatic ordeal as he robbed her of her cellular phone and R80.

He then forced her into the nearby brush where she became a rape victim at his hands.
After he had raped her he got up and left, leaving her abandoned in the bushes. She eventually managed to get up from the bushes and started searching for help.

She asked another person who was standing waiting for a lift if she could borrow her cell phone to make a call.

“It’s the fourth rape this month on the Old Ogies Road, women are warned to take care along this road,” said Captain Eddie Hall, spokesperson from Witbank Police Station.
