Whether you take a stroll to smoke a ‘spliff’ or gather in a group to keep passing drugs, the police will find you.
The past week Witbank SAPS did a great job in finding illegal substances in and around eMalahleni.

On January 11 the police was busy patrolling through Old Coronation when an official spotted a large group of men sitting around. As the police approached, the group of suspects scattered all over the place, running away. Luckily one suspect was caught and found with 74 pokes of dagga all wrapped up. Mr Thulani Nkosi was arrested on the scene and appeared in court the following week. The case was postponed due to further investigation.

Within hours apart the men in blue caught another suspect in action in the same area, dealing drugs. The suspect was caught doing his business with a client, standing by the marked vehicle. As the police approached the scene the suspect in the vehicle fled and left the other suspect no choice, but to try and run away. The police caught up with the suspect and found a plastic bag filled with white powder in the palm of the suspect’s hands. When they asked the suspect, Mr Dumbi Mkangu what he was doing with the substance in his possession, Mkangu honestly answered the police,

“I am selling it just to make a living and survive.”

He was arrested and pleaded guilty on charge of dealing drugs but the case was postponed until March.

In another incident the suspect thought it was a good idea to go for a walk in the streets of Jackaroo Park, smoking marijuana. It was then when the police patrolling the area smelled something while passing the suspect. They stopped and introduced themselves asking to search the suspect. They found nothing additional excluding a half smoked joint. The suspect was arrested on charge of being in possession of dagga.

As for the other policemen on duty patrolling the whole of eMalahleni they arrested another two suspects on the other side of town in Klipfontein. It was alleged that the policemen on duty spotted a black Ford Fiesta without any registration plates, looking suspicious. They pulled over the vehicle and started to search the two suspects in the vehicle.

In one of the suspect’s jean pocket they found drugs wrapped in tin foil as for the second suspect they found 22 pokes of dagga, the suspects was arrested and the drugs was booked in at the Witbank Police Station.
