Witbank police search for 2 suspects after residential robbery
Tasbet Park homeowners were tied up and forced to open a banking app during an early-morning break-in.
Police are investigating a Tasbet Park house robbery after two men allegedly held occupants captive inside their home before stealing a vehicle, cellphones and household items during the early hours of September 13.
According to police, the homeowner noticed footprints inside and outside the property when returning home in the afternoon. Later that evening, police reportedly found additional footprints inside the house.
Victims confronted and restrained
At approximately 02:30, two men allegedly confronted the occupants of the house in their bedroom. The suspects reportedly demanded money and tied up the homeowner with cable before forcing him to access his cellphone banking application.
The homeowner was allegedly assaulted with a pair of scissors during the robbery. After discovering there was little or no money available in the account, the suspects allegedly searched the house for a firearm.
Police were informed that the suspects also restrained the second victim.
The suspects then allegedly removed a television from the home and took spare keys to a vehicle parked on the property.

Suspect descriptions
One suspect was described as a short male wearing a grey jersey, flip-flops and a white-and-brown beanie with a tassel. He was allegedly the one giving instructions during the robbery. The second suspect was described as a tall male wearing a leather jacket, black tekkies and a beanie, with his face partially concealed by a T-shirt.
After the suspects fled, the victims managed to free themselves and sought assistance from neighbours.

Police appeal for information
No arrests had been reported at the time of publication, and police investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is urged to contact Witbank SAPS on 079 891 5570 or Crime Stop on 086 001 0111.
