St Thomas Aquinas has started the year with days packed with academics, prefect inductions and sports.
Mrs Antunes, the new principal, had the pleasure of inducting and congratulating the High School leaders for 2017 on Monday, January 16.

These leaders were proud to step forward in the newly designed prefect uniforms, which acknowledges the privilege of this position in the school. Not to be left out, the Primary School leaders had their induction on Wednesday January 18.

Each evening there was a buzz at the school as parents arrived for the Primary School’s information evenings during which new and old parents were able to meet and greet their children’s teachers and the new principal.
The week culminated in a day of sport for the Primary School in the form of inter-house athletics. This was an extremely exciting day as so many of the previous records were broken. These included Vanessa Masimangu breaking the record for long jump with a jump of 3.74m and Chidinma Edanai breaking the shot putt record with a throw of 6.61m.

The High School were also able to finish the week on an exciting note with a raucous inter-house swimming gala on Friday afternoon during which there were races for the experienced and not-so-experienced swimmers as everyone was encouraged to participate. Although Roccasecca house walked away triumphant, the real victory was for all who braved the waters and for those who cheered them on so enthusiastically.

The fun did not end here as the grade 8’s remained at school for their sleep over (or stay-awake as some call it), which ended their first week of fun-filled orientation.
