WITBANK NEWS earlier did an article on the speed humps set up by residents in Clewer which posed a danger to road users.
The bumps referred to were built on May 11, and since then several vehicles have been damaged because the bumps are too high and have not been built according to specification.

The community of Clewer took matters in their own hands when they set up their own speed bumps on a road where speed is a major problem.
The municipal manager, Mr Theo van Vuuren said the following about this problem;
“We strongly discourage communities from erecting speed humps. Communities who believe any road needs a speed hump must make a request to the municipality and after assessment a decision will be taken whether a speed hump is required or not. The height of a speed hump is determined by the speed limit of a road and other factors.”
