The house robberies are increasing like Eskom power in the city of eMalahleni.
WITBANK NEWS published an article on July 21 about the house robberies that occurred mainly in Highveld Park. In the one incident the victims were tied up and put in a corner while three suspects, of which one was armed, raided and robbed them.
Only a week later these suspects were caught by the SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch) and Witbank SAPS while they calmly sat down, preparing dinner by a fire.

“As we got to the scene the three guys sat in a circle, socializing. Until they saw men in uniform and started scattering all over the place,” a response member of the SACCW, Ms Maureen Scheepers started telling what happened.
David Wessels from the SACCW said,
“A few weeks ago we had an armed house robbery where the residents were tied up and goods were stolen. The suspects fled the scene and then continued to a house where a security guard was stationed. They tied the guard up and when back-up for the guard arrived the suspects fired on him.”
On July 27 the suspects were spotted by the victim and this was called through on the SACCW Zello channel. Response members from numerous neighbourhoods came together and followed the suspects back to their hide out.

Together with Witbank SAPS, SACCW entered the hide out and the suspects were cornered. After a search some of the stolen goods were recovered.
It was alleged that the first SAPS van responded and found a toy-gun and did not see why they had to arrest the suspects. On the SACCW and SAPS arrival police vans came from left, right and centre, blocking the suspects.
“We went into the little Wendy house on the empty premises with the police and found some of the stuff that was stolen from us in the robbery,” the victim, Ms Elena Brits said.

The three suspects were arrested after they went and showed the SAPS where the firearm and last suspect were located.
“We will find you and hunt you down. We will take our city back and fight crime and all illegal happenings along,” a response member of the SACCW concluded.
