What seemed to be a normal rescue for emergency workers ended up being a two and a half hour ordeal.

On Monday night, August 28 the driver of a white Volkswagen Citi Golf turned into the side of a coal truck near Zibulo mine in Ogies.


Emergency services working together to get the trapped driver out of his vehicle on Monday, August 28 on the road near Zibulo mine in Ogies.

The vehicle went under the coal truck and the driver was trapped inside underneath the truck.

Emergency services arrived on scene and the rescue began.

Ogies Fire Department and ER 24 from Glencore did the rescue which took two and a half hours to complete.


What was left after the white Volkswagen Citi Golf was cut to free the trapped driver.

Paramedics stabilised the driver, who had minor injuries, before he was transported to a local hospital in eMalahleni for further treatment.
