Man fleeing the law gets caught

A man was caught by police when he made attempts to flee during a search.

A man was caught by police when he made attempts to flee during a search.

On Saturday September 30 at about 00:30 Const Busi Ndala and Sgt Sipho Ntokozo Mtsweni arrested a man in Phola Location for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The arrest took place at Jeffrey’s Tavern, Iraq Section.

The accused was found inside the tavern, and attempted to flee from police who were there to inquire as to why the tavern was operating beyond normal trading hours.

Const Ndala gave chase and apprehended the suspect. Sgt Mtsweni searched the suspect and found him to be in possession of a firearm. The suspect was unable to provide his license for the firearm and was arrested.

The accused was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm then detained at Phola Police Station and appeared before the Ogies Magistrates Court on Monday October 2.

His case was postponed to November 29.
