Brig Motha stands stern with liquor act

She said according to the Mpumalanga Liquor Licensing Authority Act of 2006 there are certain requirements that must be adhered to.

She said selling liquor without a licence is an offence according to the act.

Brig Motha is very stern about drinking in public.

She said,

“No person is allowed to drink or consume liquor on the street in terms of the act. This includes drinking liquor outside a liquor premises. And sitting in a vehicle outside a liquor outlet and drinking liquor also amounts to drinking liquor in public.”

Liquor outlets on consumption license are allowed to be open from 10:00 to 24:00 and off consumption license open from 08:00 to 20:00 – Monday to Saturday.

Sunday and public holidays open from 10:00 to 17:00.

It must be noted that no children under the age of 18 are allowed in liquor outlets.
