Three people were left injured this morning following a 13-vehicle collision approximately 5km outside of Middelburg.
A truck plunged into a slow moving convoy on Monday, October 30 after the driver apparently lost control.
The convoy was travelling on the N4 as part of the Black Monday peaceful protest to create awareness around farm murders.
Well known dance instructor, Mr Deivey Patricio said he is still in shock after witnessing the accident that happened in front of him.
Patricio was travelling towards Ermelo and was behind the second convoy waiting to reach the Hendrina turn-off when he noticed the truck from Jabula Plant Hire in his rear view mirror.
“Judging from the speed the truck was travelling and the smoke coming out of its tyres I just knew the driver was not going to stop in time.”
Patricio turned into the right lane and the truck missed him by centimetres.
“The truck just came smashing into the cars in front of me. All of a sudden everything was chaos,” he said.
ER24 reported that paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured with pain relief medication. Once treated, the patients were transported to a nearby hospital in Middelburg for further treatment.
