Suspects arrested in connection with robberies
The police managed to arrest one suspect on scene.
The police have managed to arrest two suspects in connection with business robberies.
The WITBANK NEWS reported last week, “Five businesses robbed in four days.”
On Sunday, November 19 seven armed men entered Markhams in the Central Business District (CBD), where they threatened the staff members with firearms.
One community member who was outside the shop saw how the suspects were pushing the people inside the shop and the community member then called the police.
While the police responded to the call, the suspects robbed the shop of items of clothing and perfume to the value of an undisclosed amount of money.
The police managed to arrest one suspect on scene.
The suspect that was arrested is from Mofolo in Soweto, some of the goods which were stolen were found in his position.
He appeared in Witbank Magistrates Court on Monday, November 21 and his case was postponed until Tuesday, November 28 for bail application.

On Tuesday, November 14 American Swiss was robbed of jewellery to the value of an undisclosed amount of money.
After the robbery took place, one staff member rushed out of the shop to inform the security guard who in turn alerted all the other security guards and help came from all angles.
The security and the taxi drivers all gave chase and a suspect was caught near the bushes next to Highveld Mall.
The stolen items were found in his possession.
He was arrested and was found to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was charged with being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and business robbery.
He appeared in Witbank Magistrates Court on November 16 and the case was postponed to November 29 for a bail application.
He was previously arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and business robbery in 2016 but was not convicted.
