A car hijacking case has been postponed and will be heard in two weeks time.

Three suspects were arrested, two males aged 26 and 29 were charged with car hijacking and a woman aged 28 was locked behind bars for escorting the hijacked cars to Maputo.

The 29-year-old man and woman were arrested at the Manguzi border gate (KwaZulu-Natal’s side crossing to Maputo) on September 18.

However, on the day of the arrest the hijacked vehicles, a Toyota Hilux Legend and Kia Sportage, had already jumped the border gate. Four days after the first arrest took place, police nabbed the 26-year-old suspect in Klarinet.

He was found with two unlicensed firearms in his possession which police believe were used during the hijackings.

The trio appeared at the Witbank Magistrate Court on Thursday, November 23 and Monday, November 27 and their case has been postponed to Thursday, December 14.
