Mother of two dies in car crash
Three different emergency services arrived on scene and started treating the injured.
The New Year for the Rakwena family started on a sad note when a mother of two was killed in a car crash and the children sustained serious injuries.
On Monday, January 1 at 21:50 emergency services around eMalahleni received an emergency call for a serious accident in Watermeyer Street which involved a mother and her children.
Ms Ellen Batabile Rakwena (29) was travelling down Watermeyer Street towards Tasbet Park in her charcoal Volkswagen Polo, seated next to her was her daughter Ntabiseng (9) and her son Thabiso (3) who was seated in the back seat.
It’s still unclear how the accident happened but Rakwena hit a tree that was situated in the middle of the island in the road.
Three different emergency services arrived on scene and started treating the injured.
It took emergency services a while to extract Rakwena from inside the car.
While paramedics were busy with Rakwena, other paramedics started stabilizing the critical Ntabiseng and her brother Thabiso.
