It is important to note that it is not inherently animal cruelty to kill an animal that falls under The Animal Protection Act 1962, as long as it was killed in a manner that did not result in ‘unnecessary suffering’.

In May 37 stray dogs and 21 stray cats were housed at the SPCA.

Only one cat and one dog were reunited with their owners.

Some good news is that 20 dogs and six cats were adopted.

On a sad note, 92 dogs and 58 cats were put to sleep.

You can adopt your own bundle of cuteness.

For June you can adopt a cat for only R500.

This fee includes Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) testing, microchip and sterilisation.
